After beating the traditional Christmas Eve traffic, your festive celebrations commence from midday, when you will be able to relax and unwind in our contemporary lounges. You can enjoy full afternoon cream tea whilst losing yourself in glorious views over the lake so famously referred to by William Wordsworth.
The evening is relaxed and at your leisure a 4–course dinner will be available in our Windermere Restaurant. Dinner reservations will be confirmed with the hotel for this evening.
Christmas Eve – Wednesday 24th December 2008
The morning is yours to enjoy, with breakfast served from early morn, thus giving you the chance to visit our world famous Kendal Town. Perhaps you will find that special something for your loved one, or maybe a Lakeland gem. Alternatively, you could book him or her a full body massage in our leisure and beauty complex, which includes a 50ft swimming pool, sauna, steam room, squash court, extensive fitness studio and outdoor hot tub.
Celebrations this evening begin with an invitation from Nevil Jeffery and his team to a Champagne and canapé reception where you will have a chance to meet friends old and new to the sound of our resident harpist. A 5-course gourmet dinner will follow in our 'theme' restaurant suite.
We offer mini-coach transportation to the midnight service in Ambleside and upon your return mulled wine, hot chocolate and mince pies will be served.
Christmas Day – Thursday 25th December 2008
A very merry Christmas Day will begin with a Lakeland Breakfast accompanied by a glass of Bucks Fizz.
Santa knows your location, so venture out for a brisk stroll along the water edge or to admire the Lakeland fells bearing in mind the anticipated visit of “Santa” and his helpers, bringing gifts for all the children around mid-morning.
Your Traditional Christmas Luncheon will be served with seasonal cheer, crackers to pull, hats to don and all the trimmings in the surroundings of the Windermere Restaurant. The remainder of the day is yours to spend relaxing, with the Queen’s Speech being televised at 3 pm when Christmas cake will be served.
Tonight is Las Vegas night with a sumptuous seafood buffet served prior to your joining our casino tables with fabulous prizes to be won.
Boxing Day – Friday 26th December 2008
Start the day in true Cumbrian tradition with a full English Breakfast. Today we have left free for you either to discover, or revisit, the delights that the glorious Lake District has to offer, or you may wish to take part in one of our house quizzes.
We invite you back for pre-dinner drinks in the Gallery Lounge Bar before undertaking a sumptuous gala dinner. Remember your dancing shoes this evening, as our resident DJ helps all to trip the light fantastic with a Live Tribute Act to savour.
Saturday 27th December 2008
Your festive break may be drawing to a close if you are travelling home today. We bid you farewell with another Lakeland Breakfast. Those taking advantage of our special Dinner, Bed and Breakfast stay on a rate of £95.00 can sit back and unwind in the comfort of the lounges or undertake a little activity in our Leisure Club.

Tuesday 30th December 2008
Our House Party commences upon your mid-afternoon arrival, with scones, jam and clotted cream accompanied by smoked salmon finger sandwiches and a glass of Champagne to enjoy as you take in the breathtaking Lakeland views.
Celebrations this evening begin with an invitation from Nevil Jeffery and his team to a Champagne and canapé reception, where you will have a chance to meet friends old and new. A sumptuous dinner will be served prior to the evening’s climax, our traditional opening night of casino tables when you will have the chance of winning a family Easter break.
New Years Eve – Wednesday 31st December 2008
Start the day in true Cumbrian tradition with a hearty Lakeland breakfast. After a light buffet lunch at noon in the Windermere Restaurant, take the rest of the day to enjoy the stunning and breathtaking scenery of the glorious English Lakeland countryside.
Champagne is flowing again this year, prior to our New Year 6-Course Hogmanay Gala Dinner.
(Dress code for this evening is black tie.)
Our discos will increase the tempo until the sounds of Big Ben at midnight. A private fireworks display, the lone piper, along with Auld Lang Syne and the sound of Champagne corks popping, will finally confirm the arrival of the Year 2009, the Year of Brown Earth and the Ox.
New Year’s Day – Thursday 1st January 2009
Sadly, all great house parties must come to an end. This being the case, and to counter the after effects of partying well into the small hours, we serve a Cumbrian brunch from 9 am through to noon.

Twix’mass Special:
22nd, 27th, 28th, and 29th December plus 1st and 2nd January 2009, rate inclusive of Dinner bed and breakfast is £95.00 per person per night for a classic or lake view room when two adults sharing. Normal upgrade charges will be applied on these nights, making it even more sensible to make a truly enjoyable Lakeland Festive Break.
New Year One Night (Limited Availability)
Arrival from 2 pm onwards with Cumbrian cream tea being served in the Langdale Lounge and Bar –
Champagne and canapés are served from 7.00 pm followed by our Hogmanay Gala Dinner in the Windermere Restaurant. Our resident DJ will raise the tempo and our piper will signal the arrival of 2009 and our fantastic firework display.
On New Year’s Day Brunch will be served from 9 am until 12 noon, making early alarm calls unnecessary.

Booking & Deposits
For more information, or to book your Christmas
or New Year Holiday, please telephone us. To secure your
holiday, a non-refundable deposit of £100 per adult is required
at the time of booking. This can be made by simply quoting a credit
card number and details, or by sending a cheque which must be
received within 7 days of the booking being made. Full payment
of the outstanding balance is required 6 weeks prior to your stay.
