Programme of Events

Tuesday 23rd December 2008

Arrive at your leisure and make an early and relaxed start before the coming Christmas days. If you like to arrive a little earlier, join us for a walk at 1.30pm, and enjoy excellent views over Lake Windermere and the Fells, while sipping a glass of mulled wine (bring your walking boots!). In the afternoon we serve between 4pm and 5pm tea and scones. A glass of wine and canapés are served in the Drawing room at 6.30pm when you have the opportunity to meet your hosts and fellow guests. Followed by dinner in our -restaurant, with a visit from the Lakes Handbell Ringers and furthermore accompanied by live music..

Christmas Eve – Monday Wednesday 24th December 2008

After breakfast perhaps relax for the day and take a leisurely stroll down to the temple and through the grounds enjoying the breathtaking views. In the afternoon we host an on-going Champagne tasting in our cellars. This evening we have a 'Jeroboam' reception, before enjoying a special Christmas Eve dinner, again with live music. Relax with coffee and petit fours, before the cars take those who wish to attend the midnight Carol Service and Communion at St. Martin's Church in Windermere. Afterwards you return to warm mince pies and mulled wine.

Christmas Day – Thursday 25th December 2008

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast with a glass of Bucks Fizz. We are sure the rest of the morning will be spent opening the gifts that Santa has left for you. Enjoy a quick stroll perhaps before a traditional festive Christmas Lunch, which is accompanied by easy listening live music from The Walkers, then relax once more in front of the roaring log fires. In the evening we serve a buffet supper, with piano music played in our drawing room until 9pm.

Friday 26th December 2008

Following a hearty Victorian buffet breakfast, the day is yours to enjoy, walking, or shopping with the start of the local sales or a cruise on the Lake taking in the breathtaking Lakeland scenery. If you wish to stay in, you can join us late morning in an interesting and mind-challenging competition. In the afternoon, after last two year's success, another skimming competition on the lake shores (supported by a hot drink), with fantastic prizes to be won. Tea, Christmas cake and mince pies are served in the late afternoon. Dinner will round off the day, accompanied by live music.

Saturday 27th December 2008

Following breakfast, unless you decide to stay a little longer, we must say goodbye until next year and wish you a safe journey home. We hope that you will take with you happy memories of Storrs Hall as well as our very good wishes for the New Year.

However don't forget to return to us occasionally during the year. Storrs Hall could also provide a wonderful venue should you wish to enjoy a special celebration with colleagues, family and friends. We would be delighted to discuss with you our terms for reserving Storrs Hall in the New Year.

Christmas 2008 Tariff

Our four-night stay commencing on 23rd December is inclusive of meals as indicated. All our rooms are beautifully appointed with sumptuous furnishings, antiques and objets d’art. Each room has its own en-suite bathroom, most with bath and shower, direct dial telephone, radio, hairdryer and tea and coffee facilities. Guest rooms are located on the first and second floor, up one or two flights of stairs.

In consideration of our many guests, the layout and the contents of the hotel, we are unable to welcome children under the age of twelve years.

Discounts

If there are three or more couples in your party, and you will be requiring a table of six or more for meals, then you may all be eligible for a 10% discount. Please contact us for details.

All prices are based on two guests sharing a twin or double room (except single rooms) and include VAT.

Additional Nights

Arrive early and give yourself time to relax and prepare for the Christmas celebrations; or alternatively stay longer for an extra day or so.

Whilst enjoying the festivities, make sure you find time to use Low Wood Leisure Club (at our sister hotel), just 6 miles away. The leisure complex comprises a 50ft swimming pool, steam room, sauna, squash court, extensive fitness studio and beauty and hair salons.

Monday 29th December 2008

Arrive at your leisure in the afternoon, relax and recover from your journey in front of a blazing log fire. In the afternoon we serve between 4pm and 5pm tea and scones. A glass of wine and canapés are served in the Drawing room at 6.30pm and you have the opportunity to meet your hosts and fellow guests. Followed by dinner in our restaurant, which is accompanied by live music.

Tuesday 30th December 2008

After breakfast perhaps relax for the day and only take a leisurely stroll down to the jetty and through the grounds enjoying the breathtaking views. In the afternoon we host an on-going Wine tasting in our cellars. In the evening we hold a 'Jeroboam' reception and serve canapés, before enjoying dinner with live entertainment playing in the background. Relax with coffee and petit fours.

New Year’s Eve - Wednesday 31st December 2008

A leisurely breakfast, a day spent relaxing and enjoying the beauty of the Lake District and its many attractions. During the afternoon there is a Champagne tasting in the cellar, where you can get a feel for what you enjoy and would like to order, in preparation for midnight. The evening begins at 6.30pm with a glass of bubbly and canapés are served in our lounges, before indulging in our Gala Dinner (black tie preferred, but not obligatory). During dinner live music and the annual visit from the Lakes Handbell Ringers, followed by dancing into the 'wee' hours. With your Champagne in one hand listening to Big Ben and see in a bright New Year and join a chorus of 'Auld Lang Syne'

Thursday 1st January 2009

Start as you mean to go on! Relax, enjoy a lie in and indulge in a Victorian buffet breakfast, with another glass of bubbly. The day is yours to spend how you wish. At 11am you can join in a pleasant New Year's walk to nearby Rosthwaite Heights, to make an energetic start of the year (bring your walking boots!). If you wish to stay in, you can join us at 2pm in an interesting and mind-challenging competition, followed by the best headache medicine, 'Bash your trash'. In the evening join fellow guests for a glass of wine in the Drawing Room, before experiencing your first dinner of the New Year, with live music from the Walkers.

Booking & Deposits

For more information, or to book your Christmas or New Year Holiday, please telephone us or email us. To secure your holiday, a non-refundable deposit of £100 per adult is required at the time of booking. This can be made by simply quoting a credit card number and details, or by sending a cheque which must be received within 7 days of the booking being made. Full payment of the outstanding balance is required 6 weeks prior to your stay.
