Powerboating on Lake Windermere, Lake District
Driving a powerboat looks easy. In clear, unobstructed, open water it is fairly easy, but once you start interacting with moorings, jetties, trailers and other boats it soon becomes apparent that it isn’t as easy as it looks.
Instruction & NGB Accreditation
We offer both informal and formal tuition and are recognised by the Royal Yachting Association to offer the Level One, Level Two and Safety Boat courses, and by British Water Ski and Wakeboard to offer the Ski Boat Drivers Award. The Level One is a 1 day course, whilst the others are 2 day courses.
All tuition is provided on a private instruction basis, so can be booked at a time to suit you and tailored to meet your requirements. The instruction is carried out in a variety of boats to give you a broad range of experience, and can also be carried out in your own boat if required.

Direct Assessment for RYA / BWSW / SBDA awards
We can also carry out a direct assessment for the RYA Level Two and the BWSW SBDA awards, which will include a practical and written test. The assessment takes around two hours and costs £80 per person. Please ensure that you are familiar with and can carry out all aspects of the syllabus before undertaking the test as we are not able to provide instruction during the assessment.
Notes
Please note: there is a 10 nautical mph speed limit on Windermere and our courses will observe this speed limit. Under certain circumstances we can obtain an exemption from the Lake District National Park Authority to exceed this speed limit when providing recognised tuition.
